MU stock closed Monday at $833.59, down $51.15 or 5.78% from $884.74, and traded at $859.84 in Tuesday pre-market, up $26.25 or 3.15%. Micron’s market value stands at $943.14 billion.

MU stock opened Monday higher and gave the whole gain back and more during the session, which matters more than either number. The same setup is in place this morning, with two AI-hardware results due after the close.

MU Stock Fell $51.15 After Opening the Day Higher

Kioxia closed down about 15.8% in Tokyo on Monday after its outlook landed. US memory names did not follow at first. Micron rose more than 2% in Monday pre-market, Sandisk gained more than 3% and SK Hynix climbed nearly 5%, according to TradingKey.

By the close MU stock had finished 5.78% lower, with Sandisk down 5.28% and Seagate 7.81%, and Yahoo Finance putting memory and storage names in a 6% to 8% band. Nvidia, which had been up almost 2% at midday, closed at $202.06.

So the day began as a Kioxia story in Tokyo and ended as something wider for MU stock. Yahoo Finance calculates that chip and memory stocks shed more than $400 billion of market value in that single session, and about $3.7 trillion since 6 October.

Kioxia Guided to 2 Trillion Yen Against 2.32 Trillion Expected

Kioxia’s October to December guidance pointed to adjusted operating profit of around 2 trillion yen, against market expectations of 2.32 trillion to 2.35 trillion yen.

Kioxia’s NAND average selling price rose roughly 20% to 25% quarter on quarter in the period just reported, and next-quarter pricing is guided to low-single-digit growth with shipments roughly flat. Pricing power is not reversing. It is flattening.

Flat shipments and slowing price gains at a NAND maker say something about the shape of memory demand, and nothing directly about Micron’s high-bandwidth memory, which is the distinction MU stock is now arguing about. Micron plans annual HBM generations through 2030, starting with HBM4 this year.

Investor Takeaway

MU stock opened Monday more than 2% higher after Kioxia’s Tokyo plunge and closed 5.78% lower, so the selling came from the US session rather than from Kioxia directly.

The Month Has Taken 24.72% and the Year Still Shows 182.45%

MU stock is down 13.32% over five days and 24.72% over one month. Over longer windows it is up 26.23% in six months, 182.45% in 2026 and 266.01% over one year. Both of those are true at once, and they are why the week-ahead range was set as wide as it was.

Valuation has not been the constraint on MU stock, which trades on 11.92 times trailing earnings against trailing EPS of $75.30, on revenue of $133.19 billion and net income of $84.97 billion. A beta of 2.98 explains the rest, because a stock that moves three times the market will give back a quarter in a month when the group turns.

Micron does not report until around 23 December, covering the first quarter of fiscal 2027, with consensus at $38.23 of earnings per share on $61.72 billion of revenue. That leaves seven weeks in which MU stock trades on other companies’ numbers.

AMD and Super Micro Both Call at 5pm ET Tonight

AMD reports after the close on Tuesday 3 November, with its call at 5 p.m. ET. Super Micro’s call is at the same time, which means two AI-hardware reads land in the same minute.

Super Micro showed part of its hand on 20 October. It put preliminary first-quarter fiscal 2027 revenue at $18.5 billion to $19.5 billion against prior guidance of $14.5 billion to $15.5 billion, with gross margins of 12.0% to 12.5% against 10.4% to 10.8%, citing increased demand for AI platforms.

If AI server demand were cooling, a server builder would not have raised a revenue range by four billion dollars three weeks ago, which makes that pre-announcement tonight’s cleanest test. If tonight’s figures confirm it, the memory selloff looks like positioning. If AMD’s data-center commentary disappoints alongside it, the read changes for Intel, Nvidia and Sandisk as much as for Micron.

Investor Takeaway

Super Micro raised preliminary quarterly revenue to $18.5 billion to $19.5 billion from $14.5 billion to $15.5 billion on AI platform demand, and tonight confirms or breaks that number.
