US-listed cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds continued attracting institutional capital on August 6, with spot Bitcoin ETFs recording a fourth consecutive day of net inflows while spot Ethereum ETFs extended their own positive streak as investor sentiment improved.

According to Farside Investors, US spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted $137.6 million in net inflows on August 6. BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) accounted for the majority of demand, recording $128.3 million in new investments. Additional inflows came from Fidelity’s FBTC ($11.2 million), Bitwise’s BITB ($1.7 million), VanEck’s HODL ($14.9 million), Franklin Templeton’s EZBC ($7.5 million) and Invesco Galaxy’s BTCO ($6.8 million). These gains were partially offset by $32.8 million in outflows from Grayscale’s GBTC, while other issuers recorded flat flows.

Spot Ethereum ETFs also finished the session in positive territory, attracting $29.1 million in net inflows, marking a third consecutive day of positive flows for the category. The continued demand suggests institutional investors remain constructive on Ethereum despite recent market volatility and profit-taking following July’s strong rally.

The latest inflows came as Bitcoin traded near $65,000, recovering from the weakness that briefly pushed prices toward the low-$62,000 range at the end of July. The improvement in ETF demand has coincided with stronger price action, reinforcing the view that institutional investors are continuing to accumulate during periods of market uncertainty.

BlackRock Continues to Dominate Institutional Demand

BlackRock remained the clear leader in the spot Bitcoin ETF market. Its $128.3 million inflow represented more than 93% of the day’s net subscriptions across all US Bitcoin ETFs, continuing a trend that has seen IBIT capture the overwhelming majority of new institutional allocations throughout recent weeks.

Although Grayscale’s GBTC experienced another $32.8 million in redemptions, inflows into BlackRock and several smaller issuers more than compensated for those withdrawals, allowing the overall category to remain firmly positive.

The latest session also extended Bitcoin ETFs’ recovery following heavy outflows at the end of July. Market participants increasingly view the recent inflow streak as evidence that institutional investors are treating price weakness as a buying opportunity rather than reducing exposure.

Ethereum ETFs Maintain Momentum

Ethereum products also continued building on July’s strong performance. The $29.1 million in net inflows marked the third consecutive positive session for spot Ether ETFs, indicating that institutional demand remains resilient despite a moderation from the exceptionally strong inflows recorded during July.

The divergence between Bitcoin and Ethereum has narrowed in recent sessions, with both asset classes now attracting fresh institutional capital rather than rotating between one another. Analysts attribute the sustained interest in Ethereum to continued growth in tokenization, stablecoin infrastructure and decentralized finance, while Bitcoin remains the preferred macro allocation for many institutional portfolios.

ETF flows have become one of the cryptocurrency market’s most closely watched indicators because they offer a transparent measure of institutional participation. Unlike exchange trading volumes, ETF creations and redemptions represent regulated investment vehicles purchasing or selling the underlying digital assets.

With $137.6 million flowing into Bitcoin ETFs and $29.1 million entering Ethereum products on August 6, institutional investors appear to be maintaining confidence in the sector despite ongoing macroeconomic uncertainty. Whether this marks the beginning of a sustained recovery in digital asset fund flows will likely depend on broader financial conditions, regulatory developments and continued investor appetite for regulated crypto exposure.
