Trade[XYZ] has launched a synthetic perpetual futures contract tracking India’s Nifty 50 index on Hyperliquid, enabling eligible traders to speculate on movements in the benchmark around the clock.
The product, announced on October 27, 2026, operates through Hyperliquid’s HIP-3 infrastructure and offers leverage of up to 20 times.
Unlike conventional Nifty futures traded on India’s National Stock Exchange (NSE), the new contract has no expiration date and remains available during weekends, public holidays and periods when Indian equity markets are closed.
The instrument tracks the Nifty 50’s numerical index level, which is calculated in Indian rupees, while using the US dollar-pegged stablecoin USDC for margin and settlement.
It does not provide ownership of the underlying 50 companies or represent an exchange-traded derivative issued by the NSE.
The launch extends Trade[XYZ]’s existing portfolio of tokenized market exposures, including US equities, commodities, foreign exchange and international stock indices.
Nifty Contract Offers 20× Leverage and USDC Settlement
Trade[XYZ]’s Nifty perpetual operates on Hyperliquid’s onchain order book, where traders can establish leveraged long or short positions. The contract references the Nifty 50’s published index level without converting that reference price into US dollars.
Profits and losses are calculated from changes in index points and settled in USDC. This structure provides synthetic exposure to the index rather than direct exposure to the Indian rupee’s exchange rate.
However, the dollar value of a position is determined by the contract’s specifications, and the product should not be treated as equivalent to holding a conventional rupee-denominated NSE futures position. At maximum leverage of 20×, a trader can control exposure worth approximately 20 times the collateral posted.
That increases potential returns but also magnifies losses, with relatively small adverse price movements potentially triggering liquidation. Unlike fixed-expiry futures, perpetual contracts use funding mechanisms to help keep their trading prices aligned with their reference markets.
Funding payments and price differences can become particularly important when the underlying NSE market is closed. During those periods, Hyperliquid traders can continue exchanging positions even though fresh official Nifty index values are unavailable.
Consequently, weekend prices may reflect market expectations rather than contemporaneous transactions in the underlying Indian equities.
Hyperliquid Expands Into Indian Equity Derivatives
The launch represents another step in Hyperliquid’s expansion beyond cryptocurrency derivatives. Trade[XYZ] operates markets through HIP-3, which allows independent developers to deploy perpetual futures contracts using Hyperliquid’s trading infrastructure.
The platform previously introduced exposure to US equities and major indices, including an officially licensed S&P 500 perpetual announced in March 2026.
According to S&P Dow Jones Indices, Trade[XYZ] had exceeded $100 billion in cumulative trading volume by March, demonstrating demand for onchain derivatives linked to traditional financial assets. The Nifty launch brings a major emerging-market equity benchmark into that ecosystem.
India’s Nifty 50 tracks 50 large, liquid companies listed on the NSE and serves as a principal reference for domestic equity investment and derivatives trading. Traditional Indian index derivatives operate within exchange trading hours and are subject to Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) regulations governing contract specifications, margin requirements and investor protection.
Trade[XYZ]’s synthetic product operates outside that conventional exchange structure. Its availability to Indian residents therefore raises separate questions about foreign exchange rules, offshore derivatives access and applicable securities regulations.
The launch should not be interpreted as SEBI authorization or as confirmation that Indian residents can lawfully access the contract. Trade[XYZ] also restricts access from certain jurisdictions, including the United States.
For eligible international traders, the product offers continuous exposure to Indian equity-market movements without requiring direct participation in NSE derivatives. However, liquidity, funding costs, price discovery outside Indian market hours and liquidation risks may differ substantially from conventional futures.
The contract’s longer-term significance will depend on whether it attracts sustained trading volume and maintains reliable pricing during periods when the underlying Indian market is closed.
